Discovering Burnt Hill Wines

Burnt Hill Wines: Estate Reds and Inspired Collaborations

Every bottle tells a story, and this one begins on a magical hillside in Maryland.

At Burnt Hill Farm, red wine is the heart of the story. We spent years searching for the perfect site—steep slopes, rocky soils, and elevation. We planted specific clones on specific rootstocks, matched to blocks defined by their geology. This is a Grand Cru site, and our philosophy reflects that: reserve-level, single-block, often single-barrel selections, made with intention. These wines challenge convention and speak in a voice rarely heard in modern American wine.

Our estate wines are rare. In our inaugural 2021 vintage, not a single cuvée exceeded four barrels or 100 cases. Six labels were single-barrel, meaning only 300 bottles will ever exist. With just 600 cases produced, these wines are precious—no distribution, no e-commerce, no off-site sales. They are reserved for members and on-farm guests, so that we can share them with you today and decades from now.

Yet not every moment calls for a reserve red wine. On a midsummer Saturday, sitting on the patio among vines and meadows, sometimes you crave something young, fresh, and lifted. That desire inspired a new collection, created in collaboration with our sister farm—Old Westminster Winery.

Introducing the Old Westminster x Burnt Hill Collaboration

Dynamic wines by sister farms.

This partnership is deeply personal. Old Westminster is where it all began: where we first farmed, blended, bottled, and learned. It is a place of tradition and innovation, of curiosity and precision. Today, it serves as the creative lab for a lineup of collaborative wines that complement Burnt Hill’s red-driven identity while bringing energy, flexibility, and surprise to our tasting room.

These small-batch expressions fill intentional gaps in the Burnt Hill portfolio. Each reflects Old Westminster’s adventurous spirit and craftsmanship, supporting Burnt Hill’s estate ambitions while expanding the range of experiences we can offer.

The lineup includes:

NECTAR – Burnt Hill wildflower honey blended into Old Westminster's Home Vineyard Chardonnay. Aromatic, textural, and decadent.

FLORA – Bright, fresh organic Valvin Muscat from Burnt Hill "south block" blended with Old Westminster Albarino and Chardonel to build balance, length, and layered aromatics.

SUNCATCHER – A collection of saignée from Burnt Hill estate Malbec, Syrah and Gamay blended with whole-cluster pressed rosé from Old Westminster Cabernet Franc. Bright and playful.

SOLSTICE – Burnt Hill organic Regent must “washed” with Old Westminster Cabernet Sauvignon, yielding a juicy wine with depth and structure.

BLANC DE BLANCS – Traditional-method sparkling made at Old Westminster with Cool Ridge Vineyard Chardonnay. A delicious step toward our long-term vision for Champagne-clone Chardonnay planted in Burnt Hill’s “north block”.

Burnt Hill estate reds will always remain the centerpiece—100% estate-grown, the pinnacle of our craft. The collaboration wines bring a different energy: joyful, thoughtful, and delicious, always offering something new.
